Annie Bielski (b. 1990, Toledo, OH) holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is an artist, performer, and writer. Bielski’s solo exhibitions include RAW FOOTAGE at September Gallery (Kinderhook, NY), Agita at Rachel Uffner Gallery (New York, NY); Strong Winds May Exist at SEPTEMBER (Hudson, NY); Strutting, Fretting at UB Art Galleries, University of Buffalo (Buffalo, NY), Loveland at SEPTEMBER (NADA, New York, NY), and The Hardest Part is Just Gettin’ Here at Paris London Hong Kong (Chicago, IL). She has been included in group exhibitions at Chozick Family Art Gallery (New York, NY), Ki Smith Gallery (New York, NY), North Loop (Williamstown, MA), Spill (Red Hook, NY), Title Gallery (Santa Fe, NM), Burning in Water (New York, NY), High Tide (Philadelphia, PA), Motel (Brooklyn, NY), Lodos (Mexico City, Mexico); and more. Bielski has collaborated with The University at Buffalo and FORT MAKERS to create limited-edition objects and prints, and has independently released four zines. She has also worked with musician Jenny Hval, contributing album art and visuals for Hval’s 2022 release, Classic Objects, and has performed with her across the U.S. and Europe. She has performed her writing at venues including SEPTEMBER, The Museum of Modern Art, Coustof Waxman, Allen & Eldridge, Rachel Uffner Gallery, CANADA, and others. In 2018, she was the Artist-in-Residence at Basilica Back Gallery, and in 2020, she participated in, Vol1-844-NOT-Z00M ARCHIVES, Vol. 2 at Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition to her visual art, Bielski has interviewed numerous artists for The Creative Independent and contributed to several publications, including the monograph Molly Zuckerman-Hartung: Comic Relief and How to Fail Successfully, and Stay Inspired: Finding Motivation for Your Creative Work by Brandon Stosuy. Her work, performances, and writing have been featured in Art News, Hyperallergic, MTV, and The New York Times. Bielski has taught at the University of New Mexico, SUNY Albany, and SUNY Buffalo. She currently lives and works in Upstate New York.
