Anna Sew Hoy (b. 1976) lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. She received her MFA from Bard College in 2008. Sew Hoy has held solo exhibitions at galleries and institutions including the Aspen Art Museum, Aspen, CO; San Jose Museum of Art, CA; Sikkema, Jenkins & Co., NY; LA><ART, Los Angeles; Romer Young Gallery, San Francisco; Koenig & Clinton, New York (forthcoming); and Various Small Fires, Los Angeles. Her work has also been exhibited at Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Asia Society in New York, NY; Journal Gallery NY, NY; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego,CA; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA; Blaffer Art Museum, Houston,TX; Yerba Buena Center, San Francisco,CA; Orange County Museum,CA; the Asia Society, NY; Salon 94, New York, NY; and the OCMA California Biennial 2008. Sew Hoy was recently awarded a Creative Capital Visual Arts Grant (2015), as well as a California Community Foundation Grant for Emerging Artists (2013), and the United States Artists Broad Fellowship (2006). She has held residencies at Heart of Los Angeles, the Space Program at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, and Ceramica Suro, Guadalajara, Mexico. Her work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA; The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Museum Contemporary Art San Diego, CA; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA.
